Our concept
Accuracy: for a good translation, a translator has to be carefully chosen and trained. Oxford Translation has a great advantage as regards this. Our translator team - in-house and external - consists of highly qualified experienced people, who work only into their native language. French translations, German translations, Spanish translations and all other translations are only ever produced by native-speaking translators. Many of our translators have worked in the industry or profession involved, so they know the vocabulary of the field concerned - they know how things work.
Our process
When a document is received from a customer it is passed to a translator who specialises in that field, who can deliver a translation which is not only faithful to the original text from both the terminological and the linguistic point of view, but also takes into account the very latest innovations in his or her native country.
Before starting the translation, our translators first read through the original document (known as the "source" document) to identify any queries they may have about it (terminology, method to be used, etc.) in order to avoid any last minute problems.
We keep in very close contact with the customer and the translator during the entire translation process. This communication is necessary for us to make sure that the translation delivered meets our high standards.
For example, if an English into Spanish translation is required, we need to know whether our customer needs European or South American Spanish and even within South American Spanish one has to know which countries will read the document, as a result of differences between the vocabularies used in the various countries of Central and South America.
Our translator team
We have a team of highly specialized, approved translators who have been working with us for several years. Our translators work only into their native language and we use them only for work within the confines of their specialised knowledge, where we are certain that the translators are fully conversant with the field concerned. These two factors - the target language and the field of specialization - are the most important. They are the factors which enable us to select the right translator for a particular job.
Long translations
For large projects, a team of translators is set up to work closely with our management to make sure that the translation provided to the customer is consistent as regards its terminology, style, titles, page lay-out, etc. A Project Manager supervises the translation team and any DTP which may be necessary.
Translation memories
In addition, the new translation assistance software makes it easier to achieve consistent vocabulary. Translation memories are kept strictly up to date and passed to translators throughout the project, on a confidential basis. This translation memory softwarecan be applied not only to European languages such as French translation or German translation, but also to the languages of the Middle and Far East.
The system memorizes translated sentences in a computer memory. When the same sentence is found in a later translation, the computer automatically inserts the memorized translation. Of course, after this process, the entire translation is proof-read by the translator when the translation is completed.
